How to use this rich text editor

  1. Write or paste. Type in the editor, or paste from Word, Google Docs, an email or a web page. Headings, bold, italic, lists, links and colors are kept.
  2. Format. Select text and use the toolbar: heading size, bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, lists, quote, code block, link, text and highlight color, alignment and image. The last button removes all formatting from the selection.
  3. Get the result. The HTML box updates as you type. Copy the HTML for a web page or CMS, copy plain text for a chat or a form, or download a complete .html file.

What the HTML looks like

The output is plain, semantic HTML with no wrapper and no editor scripts, so you can paste it anywhere:

FormatHTML
Paragraph, heading<p>, <h1> to <h6>
Bold, italic, underline, strike<strong>, <em>, <u>, <s>
Lists<ol> and <ul> with <li>
Quote, code block<blockquote>, <pre>
Link, image<a href="…">, <img src="data:image/…">
Color, highlight, alignmentinline style="color: …", background-color, text-align

Colors and alignment use inline styles, not CSS classes, so the HTML looks the same in an email, a blog post or any other page without extra CSS.

Private by design

Everything happens in your browser. Your text is never sent to a server, and images are embedded in the document instead of being uploaded. Your draft is saved in this browser's local storage, so a reload or a closed tab does not lose your work. Click Clear to delete it.

Frequently asked questions

Is this rich text editor free and private?

Yes. It is free, needs no account, and runs completely in your browser. Your text and images are not uploaded to any server. The draft is saved only in your own browser (localStorage) so it survives a page reload.

How do I convert rich text to HTML?

Write or paste your text in the editor and format it with the toolbar. The HTML box below the editor updates as you type. Click "Copy HTML" and paste the code into your website, CMS, email template or code editor.

Can I paste from Word or Google Docs?

Yes. Copy text from Microsoft Word, Google Docs, a web page or an email and paste it into the editor. Headings, bold, italic, lists, links and colors are kept; layout that the editor does not support, such as tables and fonts, is removed, which gives cleaner HTML.

Can I edit the HTML code directly?

Yes. Change the code in the HTML box and click "Apply HTML to editor". The editor loads your code and keeps the tags it supports: paragraphs, headings h1 to h6, bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, lists, quotes, code blocks, links, images, colors and text alignment.

How are images stored?

An image you insert is embedded in the document as a base64 data URL (src="data:image/png;base64,..."). Nothing is uploaded, and the HTML works on its own. Large photos make the HTML long, so for a web page it is often better to upload the image somewhere and use its URL.

How do I add a link?

Select the text you want to link, click the link button in the toolbar (or press Ctrl+K, Cmd+K on Mac), type the URL and press Enter. Click a link in the editor to edit or remove it.
