How to share text and files between devices
- On the first device, press Create session. You get a 6-digit code.
- On the second device, open geektools.net/quick_share, type the code and press Join session.
- Paste text and press Submit, or drop files into the box. The other device shows them within a few seconds.
- Copy the text or download the files on the other device. Press Leave when you are done.
Recent sessions are remembered in this browser, so you can rejoin one with a single tap while it is still active.
Good uses
- Send a link, an address or a note from your phone to your computer without emailing yourself.
- Move a screenshot or a photo from a phone to a laptop that is not yours, without signing in to anything.
- Hand a short document to a colleague in the same room: say the code out loud.
- Copy code or a command from your computer to a phone or tablet.
Frequently asked questions
How do I send a file from my phone to my computer?
Open this page on the computer and press Create session. Open the same page on the phone, type the 6-digit code and press Join session. Choose the file on the phone. It appears on the computer within a few seconds, ready to download.
Do I need an account or an app?
No. Quick Share works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers, so it also works between an iPhone and a Windows PC or between Android and a Mac. There is nothing to install and no login.
How big can the files be?
Each session holds up to 4 files of up to 2 MB each, which fits photos, screenshots and documents. Shared text can be up to 100,000 characters. For bigger files, use a cloud drive.
How long are my text and files kept?
A session ends after 24 hours without activity. The server then deletes the session, its text and its files. You can also delete a file yourself at any time with its delete button.
Is Quick Share private?
Anyone who knows the 6-digit code can open the session while it is active, so only give the code to people you trust. Data travels over HTTPS but is not end-to-end encrypted. Do not use it for passwords, bank details or other secrets.
Can more than two devices join the same session?
Yes. Every device that enters the code sees the same text and files, and changes show up on the others within a few seconds.
